All staff working with D/deaf learners are committed to improving their British Sign Language (BSL) skills with an expectation all staff will achieve at least a Level 2 qualification in BSL.

Our learners all take part in weekly British Sign Language (BSL) classes with Mr. Alan Sanders, a qualified BSL tutor registered with Signature. Signature is the leading awarding body for deaf communication qualifications in the UK. Within these sessions, children increase their signing vocabulary and learn about Deaf Awareness.

Following our Total Communication philosophy, our staff and pupils are encouraged to sign when they are in school to allow all children and staff access to what is being said at all times.

Windsor Park offers signing classes to parents, family members, professionals and the local community. During these classes you can work towards achieving Level One or Two in British Sign Language, as awarded by Signature. These classes currently run on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday both during the school day and from 15:30-17:30.
