Our Visiting Teachers of Deaf Children and Young People service is based in Windsor Park School. Visiting teachers make home and/or nursery visits to ante-pre and pre-school learners. Teachers of the Deaf offer support and advice to families, other professionals and agencies. At this stage Teachers of the Deaf are continually assessing the language and communication development of young D/deaf learners and planning the interventions required, often contributing to the Child's Plan (Form 4).

Children who require a higher level of support may attend Bantaskin Nursery (morning placement only) where they will be fully supported by a signing Support for Learning Assistant and have regular visits from a Teacher of the Deaf.

During periods of transition, our Teachers of the Deaf are able to offer impartial advice on possible suitable educational placements to meet the needs of each D/deaf child. The decision on where each D/deaf child is educated is made by Falkirk Council's Education Placement Change Panel.  

Teachers of the Deaf make annual, termly or weekly visits to D/deaf pupils in mainstream and ASN provisions across Falkirk Council. You can find out more about the role of the Teacher of the Deaf via this website.
